Getting Tarnish Off Silver

Nanz Aalund has a tarnish cleaner recipe for all of us. She says this really works for all your silver jewelry as long as the stones can withstand the heat of very hot water

1. ½ teaspoon baking soda
2. ½ teaspoon table salt
3. 2 cups of water
4. Pyrex Glass Pan
5. Sheet of aluminum foil to fit glass pan

Fit the aluminum foil to the bottom of the baking pan/dish. Heat the baking soda, salt, and water ( on the stove ) in a Pyrex glass baking dish (one that can stand the heat of the stove top) to boil. Turn off the heat. The aluminum foil should be placed or fitted to the Pyrex dish before adding the salt, baking soda, and water mixture and before boiling.

This tarnish removal process can be done on silver jewelry with gemstones as long as the gemstones can withstand very hot water. If there is a question about the gemstone's heat durability let the water cool a bit.

Nanz swears this works! Let’s try it, sounds fun.
